ISRI’s Annual Safety Stand-Down Day 2020
Identifying Hazards, Reducing Risk, Eliminating Accidents and Saving Lives

SafetyStandDownAtlas

ISRI members are encouraged to shut down operations for at least One-Hour on every shift on Wednesday, June 17, to engage in safety education. The education can be in any form, from employee training (best practices for preventing accidents and injuries on site), to conducting a facility/yard inspection, or any other effective safety training that frontline employees can readily use as a takeaway.

As part of the safety training we recommend that you consider the following training resources:

  1. COVID-19: Recycler's Guide for Safe Operations
  2. Fall Protection
  3. Respirable Crystalline Silica
  4. Machinery – Moving Parts
  5. Unexpected Machine Startup, Lockout/Tagout
  6. Fire Safety Practices (Scrap Facilities)
  7. Protecting Yourself When Handling Contaminated Sharps
  8. Sample Draft Mobile Cell Phone Policy for CMV drivers
  9. Guidance for Torch Cutting
  10. Personal Protective Equipment Fact Sheet
  11. Portable Fire Extinguishers / Fire Extinguisher Use

2020 Safety Stand-Down Member Participation

ISRI members from across the country have shared their safety activities, photographs, and videos with ISRI showing how they participated in this year’s industry Safety Stand-Down Day. This is a day where businesses are asked to take at least one hour out of their work schedule to focus on health and safety matters with their frontline employees. This year we saw a great turnout from the membership. Members conducted a variety of training ranging from first aid & CPR, blind spot awareness around mobile equipment, safety leadership, risk assessment, COVID-19 protocols, and many other forms of safety training were administered. With that said, ISRI thanks all of you for taking part in this crucial event, and for making safety a core value and not just a priority.
