India is the U.S. recycling industry’s largest growth market.  U.S. scrap exports to India crossed the billion dollar market for the first time in 2018 and continues to grow, with 2019 exports totaling more than 4.6 million metric tons valued at $1.56 billion.  ISRI collaborates closely with the Materials Recycling Association of India (MRAI) on a range of activities that support this flourishing scrap trade, such as providing input to the Indian Government’s development of a national recycling policy, consulting on the Indian Government’s development of new scrap import standards and advising our members on policies and regulations governing scrap trade.
